Our Story
Sunny Slope Ranch takes its name from the iconic Sunny Slope School House, a historic landmark located just a stone's throw away from our family farm. With deep roots in the area since the 1890s, the Kennedy Family has nurtured a profound connection with the cattle and land. It was here that Joseph and Joel Kennedy, two brothers driven by a passion for sustainable agriculture, grew up and developed a vision.
In 2022, Joseph and Joel realized the need for sustainable farm-fresh proteins and embarked on a creative journey to revitalize their family farm. They understood the importance of providing consumers with ethically sourced, flavorful meats. The cattle are grazed on grass for the majority of their lives, ensuring their well-being, and only finished on grain during the final months.
Our Mission
At Sunny Slope Ranch, our mission is to provide sustainable farm-fresh proteins to consumers in Kansas and across the USA. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality, responsibly raised meats that you can feel good about enjoying.
Family-Owned
Joseph, the oldest of a trio of brothers, spent the majority of his life dreaming of continuing on the legacy of his family farm. After receiving his degree in 2016, Joseph returned home to find his place in the family farming operation. He has since settled into his job with the county conservation district and is the founder of Sunny Slope Ranch, LLC. Taylor entered Joseph’s life while working cattle on the farm and they later married in November 2022. With both of their careers in agriculture, they share a passion for cattle health and management and sustainable farm practices. They have 2 children and look forward to raising them and passing on the farm so it can be continued into the next generation.
Joel, the youngest of the brothers, pursued a career with a trade union after college. He, much like Joseph, also had a strong pull to continue on the core family farm for future generations to come. Prior to returning home from college, Joseph broached the opportunity to partner in Sunny Slope Ranch, and Joel was all in. Joel and his fiancé, Meagan, have been an integral part of the business; raising pigs and contributing their passion for sustainable agriculture.
“As a family-owned and operated business, we cherish the bonds that tie us together and infuse our farm with warmth, dedication and a commitment to sustainable practices.”
